Art
Curriculum The art program at Valley Christian School is focused on helping student’s develop their artistic ability, learn the historical context of art, and become more confident in their creative expression. Our program explores a wide variety of media and techniques. Throughout the school year classes will work in watercolors, tempera, pastels, and charcoal. While everyone is encouraged to work to the best of their ability the emphasis is not on the finished product but rather on the process and learning involved in creating the artwork.
A variety of mediums are used to accomplish desired
projects. Special projects are designed at Thanksgiving,
Christmas, and Easter. A culminating activity is an Art
Exhibition here at VCS which encompasses a display of
student work done throughout the year.
Students are encouraged to participate in the Lower
Moreland community art program which is a photo contest.
VCS students have won ribbons for their efforts at this
event.
Art Goes to School is another local program which comes
to our school annually in the spring. Students view and
critique famous works of art.
