Dr. Chelsea Foster Selected As New VCS Head of School

We are pleased to announce Dr. Chelsea Foster has been named the Head of School (HOS) for Valley Christian School (VCS), a ministry of Huntingdon Valley Presbyterian Church (HVPC). Dr. Foster brings a long history with VCS combined with excellent educational and professional qualifications.

Through the interview process, the HOS Search Committee and VCS Board could plainly see Dr. Foster’s love for the Lord, her servant’s heart, and her love for children.

Noel Wolfe, chair of the HOS Search Committee says, "Throughout the search process we experienced God’s abundance and his provision. We appreciate all who prayed with us through the process. Dr. Foster's individual calling and our needs were perfectly paired by the Lord. Christ works miracles even when we don’t see a clear solution. We are very excited to see God’s plan continue to unfold for His children!"

No stranger to VCS, Dr. Foster was a student (1977-79), a VCS parent (2005-13 and 2018-19), the PTF Secretary (2010-12), and a VCS School Board Member (2011-13). She and her husband, Charles, have four children who fondly remember their years at VCS. Charity is in college and Chloe, C. Joshua, and Christian are all in high school.

“I am delighted to welcome Dr. Foster as the new Head of Valley Christian School,” says the Rev. Daniel Morrison, pastor of Huntingdon Valley Presbyterian Church. “I’ve known her and her family a long time and am thrilled that we will be colleagues and partners in this important work.”

Dr. Foster has been an educator for over 25 years. She has a Bachelor’s in Education with certifications in Spanish, English as a Second Language, History, and Administration; a Master’s in Bilingual/Bicultural Studies; a Certificate in Human Resources by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM-CP); and a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership.

Says Dr. Foster, “I am called to be an educator so that the generations to come might know that they have a great purpose and can put their hope in the Lord. I fully believe that all children have the capacity to grow and that scripture instructs us to teach them about the Lord and his precepts and that this is foundational to whatever specialties, gifts, or talents they may possess because we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”

Aaron Pavkov, VCS Board Chair, says, “While I didn’t know Dr. Foster before the interview process, her spiritual resume was more critical to me than her professional resume. I am pleased with Dr. Foster’s love for Jesus, her ability to articulate a biblical worldview, and her spiritual maturity. I’m convinced that she sees VCS as a ministry that the Lord is calling her to humbly serve with her abundant skills and experiences.”

Dr. Foster, with her family, will become actively involved in the life of HVPC to maintain a close connection between the school and the church.
