The National Association for the Education of Young Children has stated in their position on good teaching practices for two, three, four and five year old students that young children learn by doing.  The best preparation for academic success is a wealth of hands on experiences covering a diverse subject matter at a young age.  Our preschool curriculum is based upon this premise.  We want to be sensitive to the developmental stages of young children and provide the types of learning opportunities that will stimulate and challenge them.  All too often undo pressure is placed on children to achieve academically when they should be exploring rather than studying. Our approach will include many opportunities to explore and experience learning, versus purely academic based pencil and paper worksheets.

VCS preschool is accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and The Middle States Association. We comply with PA state standards and monitor its website for childcare center guidelines and compliance.

Overview

We strive to teach each child in a way that reaches their heart, mind, and spirit.  With that in mind, our goal is to encourage faith, wisdom,  and service.

PRESCHOOL PHILOSOPHY

The vision of Valley Christian School follows Luke 2:52, “And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.”

Our students must experience growth cognitively, physically, spiritually, and socially if they are to be healthy and whole human beings. VCS provides opportunities in all of these areas by the various components of its program. We believe an excellent education is a balanced education with God’s word as the guiding Truth in each of these areas. Therefore, each subject incorporates biblical truth.

Our academics are developmentally and grade appropriate. We strive to individualize the curriculum while completing concepts that align with national and state standards.

At Valley Christian School, we believe that all children are created with a great capacity to learn, each with unique abilities and learning styles. Our curriculum has been selected not only based on its accuracy and academic strength, but also on its ability to be presented in ways that reach the hearts and minds of our students.

Curriculum

The curriculum for Preschool is grounded in our mission which is to partner with each parent to develop Christ-centered thinkers, with a heart for God, equipped to serve and excel in all aspects of life.

The 2 Play & Learn and P3 classes are self-contained classrooms; whereas the PreK class will leave the classroom for Spanish, music and physical education classes.
