Middle School

Overview

We strive to teach each child in a way that reaches their heart, mind, and spirit.  With that in mind, our goal is to encourage faith, wisdom, and service.

Learning to fly!

Isaiah 40:31 says, “But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not be faint.”

Valley Christian School opened a middle school for the 2011-2012 school year. This program meets the needs of sixth, seventh, and eighth graders. Our mission is the same as that of the elementary school: The mission of Valley Christian School, in partnership with each parent, is to develop Christ-centered thinkers with a heart for God, equipped to serve and excel in all aspects of life. Our vision is to produce adolescents who are independent Christian thinkers.

Middle schoolers are wondering how they will learn to grow into adulthood. What does life look like for them during the middle years? They are moving from a trusting and believing everything attitude to questioning and challenging everything! That is the way God has designed them to grow. Educators and caregivers must listen well, ask many questions, and love them with healthy and godly respect. They are active and exploring beings. Valley Christian School’s program strives to provide security with an emphasis on God as their Creator, Savior, and Sustainer. All truth is God’s truth, and the Bible becomes the microscope through which we teach and learn.

MIDDLE SCHOOL CURRICULUM AND PHILOSOPHY

FAITH   WISDOM   SERVICE

The vision of Valley Christian School follows Luke 2:52, “And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.”

Our students must experience growth cognitively, physically, spiritually, and socially to be healthy and whole human beings. VCS provides opportunities in all of these areas through the various components of its program. We believe an excellent education is balanced with God’s word as the guiding Truth in each area. Therefore, each subject incorporates biblical truth.

Our academics are developmentally and grade-appropriate. We strive to individualize the curriculum while completing concepts that align with national and state standards. We want our students to be equipped for the rigors of high school and to place in honors or advanced placement classes.

Terra Nova standardized test scores for the core areas for VCS students in grades three to eight are available upon request. You will also find additional components of our program that complement the academic curriculum areas outlined here.

PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION

At Valley Christian School, we believe that all children are created with a great capacity to learn, each with unique abilities and learning styles. Our curriculum has been selected not only based on its accuracy and academic strength but also on its ability to be presented in ways that reach the hearts and minds of our students.
